Morning. As promised I am keeping the theme of Diabetes week, as my challenge started today!!
I don’t want to be doom and gloom and a scaremonger but I feel this is important to know. Having and treating diabetes is not just a case of taking the tablets or injecting the insulin and all will be OK.
Not only can it be a complicated regime to administer the doses, there are other issues than can arise such as:
• heart disease and stroke
• loss of feeling and pain (nerve damage)
• foot problems – like sores and infections
• vision loss and blindness
• miscarriage and stillbirth
• problems with your kidneys
• sexual problems – like problems getting or keeping an erection
So now you can see what it is important that if you suspect you may have diabetes (from any of the symptoms listed yesterday) or you have diabetes, it is important to go to your doctor and have regular check-ups. I know it's not so easy in the UK but it is important to have regular blood tests to check your blood glucose levels.
Take care!
