and what should we drink?
For men, an average of 3.8 litres of water a day from fluid and non-fluid sources (e.g. fruits and vegetables) is adequate; for women, an average of 2.6 litres cups. This does not take into account those who are exercising or being in a hot climate.
So where can we get this amount of fluids. It’s a lot of water to drink ain’t it? Water intake doesn’t come only from drinking water. It also comes from tea, coffee, non-dairy milks, milks, and water from solid foods.
Please remember that drinks such as Coffee, tea, fizzy drinks, and alcohol are diuretics. Diuretics remove water from the body. Drinks such as coffee and fizzy drinks are mild diuretics, although they can have dehydrating effects on the body.
Alcohol removes more water from the body leading to waking up with that dry mouth and a hangover. If you are consuming a lot of these types of drinks you may need to increase the amount of fluids you take in.
